 Water Meter Installation Requirements


METER INSTALLATIONS
Meter stakes need to be placed at the edge of the right of way. The department will try to place the meter as close as possible to the stake.

BACK FLOW PREVENTERS
 Required for all customers.

REDUCING VALVE
Required for all customers where pressure exceeds 80psi at any fixture.

PRIVATE CUT OFF
 Required for all customers to have a cut off on their side of the meter.

CUSTOMER’S METER
Shall be unobstructed and accessible at all times to the Water Department.

THERMAL EXPANSION
 The hot water heater can cause excessive pressure to build in a closed system (when a reducing valve or backflow preventer is installed). Appropriate pressure relief valves or expansion tank systems should be installed at or near the water heater.
