If the elector is a first time registrant by mail who did not provide one of the acceptable forms of ID at the time of registration this voter must show proper identification. If the elector is unable to show identification at the time of voting they may vote a provisional ballot which will be counted only if the voter presents identification within the 2 day period following the election.

Electronic Voting
The 2002 General Election was a milestone in Georgia history. Georgia became the first state in the nation to successfully implement a statewide uniform electronic voting system. This successful transition, at a time when many naysayers said it couldn't be done, was the result of an in-depth analysis of the accuracy and accessibility of available voting systems, a statewide voter education and poll worker training program and an unprecedented partnership between state and county governments. Georgia voters young and old expressed confidence in the new voting system and Georgia's under vote rate was dramatically reduced.
Floyd County uses full-function electronic poll books in elections. Electronic voting:
- Provide immediate, automated voter verification at each precinct
- Link the voter registration system, voting system and polling places
- Eliminate costs associated with printing paper poll books and updating voter history files
- Reduce provisional voting and calls to election central
- Automate upload of voter history data
- Streamline and simplify election day process for poll workers
