 Bridge Division


County Engineer John Stewart founded the Floyd County Bridge Division in 1986. Under the leadership of James Adkins, the maintenance and construction of bridges began and over the years the scope and responsibilities have enlarged.

Supervised by Denton Wright, this division installs and maintains all county bridges, guard rails, and sidewalks. Roadway drainage tasks consist of clearing beaver dams, installing and repairing catch basins and headwalls at culverts, pipes and bridges. The Bridge Division also is involved in construction on many special projects.

The Bridge Division works diligently with other Public Works divisions to clear our roads when heavy rain, wind, snow or ice storms threaten our transportation infrastructure. With the assistance of inmate labor from the Floyd County Prison, the crews of the Bridge Division are committed to providing a safe environment for the citizens of Floyd County.
